1. Introduction to document
The intent of this document is to introduce the magazine SED (Structural Engineer's Digest), which is an initiative by tha Indian Association of Structural Engineers (IASE).
The main purpose here is to provide information, as well as request for contributions to the digest from the Structural Engineering fraternity of India.
The document draws out SED's 2011 plans of operations. It is hoped that the IASE members, or for that matter any one, associated with the field of Structural Engineering and interested in its advancement will find this document very useful.
2. About SED
SED (Strucural Engineer's Digest) is a magazine published by the Indian Association of Structural Engineers (IASE); and was started with its first issue in 2008. 2008 and 2009 were printed magazines, and 2010 was a slowdown year for us where we had to put the journal online only. Now it is planned to publish the magazine in both electronic and print formats. Online version is at http://sedigest.in . It is planned that printed copies can be either subscribed to, or can be ordered from the website itself. The rates for each issue is yet to be decided by the editorial team.
The editorial team at SED is hopeful that it will be able to achieve its target in informing, as well as will encourage reading and writing of technical articles related to the field of Structural Engineering among the IASE members, and non member structural engineers alike.
3. Response and Readership
We have received a great response in last two years verbally, through word-of-mouth and appreciation letters since the digest's inception. This has inspired us to move ahead with a plan for the 2011 version. We plan to have six issues for the coming 2011, and articles are invited.
A rough count is below.
- IASE Members: 500 appx.
- Registered to the web-site: 20 appx.
- Individual: To be determined.
